Known as the ‘Fitz’, Riley and Georgia Fitzsimmons are a golden couple both on and off the water.

They’re golden, both on and off the water.

Flying in on a brand new Race One Double Ski, the Fitzsimmons secured their first
Australian Title together as husband and wife.
Despite the encouragement from his wife in the back, Riley quickly stopped that with a little “be quiet and just paddle Georgia”.
Although this sentence was possibly said in a few different words, of which none should be spelt out, the newlyweds stuck to their race plan, flew out of the start, turned the ski around the apex and came home strong.
Laughing together about Georgia’s attempt of encouragement, united, the pair simply loved racing together.
“We just had so much fun with it!” Georgia said with a smirk.
“And there was a little bit of backseat driving from myself,” she laughed.
For Riley, Georgia’s cheeky backseat driving apparently demonstrated that she had more to give!
“If you can speak in the backseat, it mean’s you aren’t going hard enough!” Riley stressed through a grin!
Georgia was quick to reply, “I’m just your passenger princess on the back!” through her laughter.
Known as the ‘Fitz’, Riley and Georgia Fitzsimmons are a golden couple both on and off the water.
Riley; a 3x Olympian and Georgia; Australia’s greatest-ever Ironwoman, there is no denying the support and love that they have for one another has enabled such success for each of our Race One athletes respectively.
“It helps when you come home after training and you’ve both got an understanding of what each other are going through,” Riley explained.
“You’re able to support each other really well, there’s clarity when we are both going through the highs and the lows of sport and have a great understanding of what we both need, most of the time.”
Loving their sport, pursuing their dreams and supporting one another both on and off the water, these two athletes are setting the perfect example for our grassroots, youth, their Open teammates and rivals, as well as our Masters!
With love, support and comfort for one another, this dynamic duo upholds similar golden qualities to our new Race One Double!
“It’s super comfortable, really stable, but fast with an incredible turning circle! And it showed, with so many Race One Doubles up the front of the field!
“We thoroughly enjoyed paddling it!”
For this golden pair, the past has been phenomenal and the future exciting! With a change of events taking place for this next chapter in their lives, Georgia and Riley endeavor to slow down, take this time to be together, with their dog Norman.
“Walking Norman is one of our favourite things to do,” Georgia said.“Our lifestyle has been very hectic, so slowing down is really going to be key for us.
“Taking the time to be together, to travel and to be better friends, better family members and do all the things that we haven’t quite had the time to do!”
For now, Europe awaits.
While Riley is looking forward to supporting Georgia as she steps into retirement, an excited Georgia looks forward to continuing this wild ride we call life, as Riley’s ‘passenger princess’ now, until forever!
