CONQUERING THE KA'IWI CHANNEL: THE 2023 SHAW AND PARTNERS MOLOKAI CHALLENGE

We are delighted to announce that Shaw and Partners proudly took the helm as the headline sponsor for the 2023 Shaw and Partners Molokai Challenge.

This revered ocean surf-ski paddling competition unfolded over the past weekend amidst the breathtaking scenery of Hawaii.

Renowned as a monumental test of stamina and tenacity, the Challenge continually attracts courageous participants from around the world.

This year, the contenders faced an even more demanding task, with flat conditions transforming the 53km course through the waters of the Ka’iwi Channel, between the islands of Molokai and Oahu, into a demanding trial of endurance.

Following a three-year break due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Shaw and Partners Molokai Challenge made a powerful comeback this year. The event drew an impressive roster of over 150 enthusiastic paddlers competing across solo, double surf-skis, and one-man outrigger categories.

This year's competition was fiercer than ever. The Shaw and Partners Team, comprising over 20 seasoned paddlers, including renowned athletes like Cory Hill, Shannon Eckstein, Michael Booth, Hank McGregor, Kendrick Louis, Matt Bevilacqua, Joshua Fenn, Jemma Smith, and Hannah Sculley, showcased an exciting mix of talent from Australia and South Africa.

Securing his third Molokai Challenge title, Shaw and Partners Brand Ambassador, Cory Hill, clinched the men's division with an impressive time of 3:31:39, demonstrating extraordinary resilience amidst the flat conditions.

Cory was closely followed by Hank McGregor (3:32:59) and Joshua Fenn (3:38:03). Shaw and Partners Brand Ambassador and SUP World Champion, Michael Booth, delivered an outstanding performance, securing the 4th place with a time of 3:38:34.

In her debut appearance, Shaw and Partners Brand Ambassador and ICF World Champion, Jemma Smith, triumphed in the women's category with a time of 4:04:41, leading ahead of competitors Sascha Taurins (4:18:12) and Ellecia Saffron (5:14:33).

We extend our heartfelt congratulations to all the fearless paddlers who not only participated but also braved the challenging flat conditions. Here's to conquering currents, in water and beyond!
